Ingredients

Scale

8 ounces Ribeye Steak, thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt, divided
1/4 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper, divided
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 tablespoon non-alcoholic Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons butter
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 yellow onion, sliced
4 ounces mushrooms, sliced
1 loaf French bread, cut in half lengthwise
1/3 cup mayonnaise
8 ounces Provolone cheese, sliced

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Heat the canola oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Season the ribeye slices with half the salt and pepper, then sear in the skillet until browned and cooked through. Remove steak from the pan.
In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Sauté until tender and slightly caramelized.
Stir the steak and Worcestershire sauce back into the vegetable mixture, then remove from heat.
Place the two French bread halves on a baking sheet and spread the mayonnaise evenly over the cut sides.
Divide the steak and vegetable mixture evenly over the bread.
Top with the sliced provolone cheese.
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the bread is crispy.
Slice into segments and serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure the ribeye is sliced very thin by placing it in the freezer for about 20 minutes before cutting; it makes the process much easier. You can substitute sirloin if preferred. If you prefer a different cheese, Mozzarella or white American cheese work beautifully as well.
